Thanksgiving 2020 a challenging concept
With a country still divided after a raucous and unique election cycle, over 250,000 coronavirus deaths in the US, 12.3 million US coronavirus cases, cases spiking around the world, and devastation across the global economy it is difficult to focus on the positives this year. There are some, most notably very promising vaccine results for Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna, great strides have been made in clinical treatment of covid patients, the S&P 500 up 10.11% in price alone year-to-date (hard to imagine), and hopefully a still sound underlying economy poised to recover well once the vaccine(s) return us to some normalcy. Still, it will be hard to not consider a winter ahead with further limited activity levels … much of the US cannot continue to meet and eat outdoors and family gatherings are the primary driver for spiking caseloads. Plus, we all know that spiking cases are a leading indicator for hospitalizations and deaths. What are the analysts thinking about the markets as we head into the short week?

Taking time for reflection during the short week and long weekend to come
Given that backdrop of a generally bad year with some bright spots on the horizon, it may be time to take a step back and reflect on the markets, opportunities, and how best to plan ahead for better times. Still, that won’t stop us from sharing some immediate ideas, but do reflect some this Thanksgiving. You are here, be thankful for it.
